Jawa is one of the most known Czech motorcycle manufacturers. It was started in 1929. In 1932 they produced a few models, mostly 2 strokes. This ended during WW2 when they still kept designing bikes in secret. At the end of the war, Jawa was nationalized and linked up with rival CZ. In 1949 the glory day for Jawa began winning the ISDT 7 times during the 70s. Jawa absorbed the Eso during the '60s and by the '80s had become the biggest producer of bikes and motors for speedway racing.
