Sachs and Fichtel's first motorcycle was produced in 1905 and they produced their one millionth moped in 2002. As with many German companies, the factory was heavily bombed during WW2. Starting with just 30 employees (there were 257 before the war), the company began production again in 1946. In 1960 the company had 16 riders representing them in the ISDT and all 16 finished the event.
